Talk, Talk, Talk (1997) by Eitan Steinberg
for violin, viola, and cello
West Coast premiere

Two motives 'compete' with each other, holding onto their self identity in a stubborn way. They are played nervously in a dynamic scale of Forte to Fortissimo, often sul ponticello, creating a feeling of a loud argument. Talk Talk Talk was commissioned by the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music as part of its 50th anniversary, celebrated in 1997. At that time I was a Ph.D. candidate in the U.S., and was watching the political situation in my homeland from abroad. My impressions have lead to the creation of this intense musical dialogue, which seems to be still relevant.
